Spring Home decoration

Here is an image of my new Spring home decoration. I love to have flowers and plants in house, but for some reason I have have more flowers and plants in house during spring. Which sounds a bit strange while writing it because it makes your home so much nices and alive during winter. So this is also a memo to myself :).

Spring came early this year

This year spring is very early!

In Dutch we have a saying "Maart roert zijn staart", this means that during the month of March the weather can go into all directions! One week it can be cold, rainy and dark and the next week it can be warm with lots of sun! This year March started very very good. Last weekend we had the best weekend since a long time, clear blue sky and lots of sun.

March Craft Challenge Teaser!

So I this weekend I started preparing my March Craft Challenge. As you probably know I am participating in Rosie's 2013 Craft Challenge. If you are new or are not sure what I am talking about, just click here, here and here to get all the details. The complete overview of all our challenges  can be found below:

As you can see for March we have to make something cool to wear. It can be anything! I started my project but since it is not yet ready I decided to post a little teaser so you can get an idea of what I am making.

What you will need is a simple t-shirt and some nice, colorful, bold printed fabric.

Curious?! Well stay tuned because later this week I will give you the complete scoop on this project.

Craft Challenge 2013 - My Repurposed Crafts!

Finally I can show you my Craft Challenge for February! I decided to re-purpose a crate which was a beer gift package. Since it just simple rough wood, it was pretty simple to paint it, pimp it and turn it into a flower basket!

Let's start by showing you the before picture and what I used to transform it into something else.

1) The before:

 2) What do you need:

You will need: Glue gun, paint brushes, wooden flowers to cover the words "Limburgs Genot", and I used some plastic beads.
You will also need paint, good white paint as a base coat and some colored paint. I used Acrylic paint (the cheapest I could find). I thought I would also need nails and a hammer to fasten the plastic lining but instead I used (wood) glue. I like my glue!

 3) Start painting:

Make sure to apply enough white base paint, I had to paint the crate 3x to get it really white. Then apply some stripes if you want to, you can also add polka dots or anything you want really... When painting stripes make sure you use tape to get nice straight stripes. And wait with taking of the tape until the paint is really dry.
When painting these wooden flowers, also first apply a white paint (2x) and then when it is completely dry apply some nice colors to the flowers.

 4) When everything is dry:

Cover the inside with some (thick) plastic to make sure it is water resistant when watering the plants/flowers.

 5) Start gluing!

Now you can start gluing the flowers to the flowers to the outside of the crate. I also added some plastic beads to the smallest flowers.

 6) Finishing touch!

Add some plants! I choose for
hyacinths because they smell so nice!

Now go over to Craftbotic and vote for your favorite Re purposed craft!

Fashion inspiration from past times

Have you ever watched the TV show "Mad Men"? It is set in the 1960s in a time where the women are dressed so elegantly and feminine. So today I will be sharing some of my favorite clothing items and styles from past times. Times like the 'roaring' 20s, the 30's all way to the 70's where women made bald fashion statements such as polka dots, floral prints, maxi dresses and tie and dye prints. All trends that we have seen over the last years and I must admit some of these past fashion trends are in my closet.

Here is an overview of my favorites!

1920s

1930s

1940s

1950s

1960s

1970s

Which style is your favourite? I especially love the 50s and 60s because women dressed so elegantly and über feminine.

Let me know what you think!

Nothing more than feelings....

I just want to share with you the following words I found on the Facebook page of Single Dad Laughing. I feel like everybody should read these words and never forgot them! Yes I am talking to you, the girl who feels sad because she broke up with her boyfriend and yes I am also talking to you, the woman who always feels the need to tell others how to feel.

So never ever forget these words! No matter who you are or how you feel!
